Today I filed the necessary paperwork with the Moore County Board of Elections to run for Mayor of Pinehurst. This was done after considerable thought and at the urging of many of our fellow residents.

 

We all live in an exceptional place — the Village of Pinehurst — and we need a mayor to stand up for Pinehurst in order to maintain our time-honored traditions and the historical ambiance of our community.

 

I believe we can maintain our quality of life, manage any responsible growth and provide the basic municipal services in a cost-effective manner that leaves more money in the pockets of our taxpayers---than in the coffers of our government.

 

I believe we can manage Pinehurst’s future growth on Pinehurst’s terms with citizen input that minimizes its impact on our over-burdened infrastructure and the integrity of our neighborhoods.

Having experienced the demands on a Council members schedule, I strongly believe the next Mayor of this Village of 18,000 residents must accept the fact that this is more a full-time job, rather than a part-time position. The need for committed leadership is important.

 

I hope my fellow candidates for Mayor will engage in a series of debates/forums/joint appearances in the coming months so the residents of Pinehurst will be in the best position to make an informed decision.
